Dr. Stuart A. Day brings more than 30 years of experience in teaching, mentoring, coaching, and academic leadership to his role as Senior Executive Coach with Academic Search. He currently serves as Dean of the School of Professional Studies at the University of Kansas (KU), the institution’s fastest-growing school, and leads KU’s Edwards Campus in the Kansas City Metro. His career in higher education has included leadership appointments as Department Chair, Vice Provost, and Senior Vice Provost.
An educator at heart, Dr. Day is dedicated to advancing self-knowledge, creativity, social mobility, and civic engagement. He has been recognized for his teaching and mentorship with multiple awards, including KU’s prestigious Kemper Award for Teaching Excellence and two teaching/mentoring awards at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Certified by the International Coaching Federation, Dr. Day guides leaders through transformative coaching engagements that generate meaningful results. He also collaborates annually with the founder of the Center for Executive Coaching to deliver a joint CEC-KU executive coaching certificate program.
In addition to his administrative and coaching work, Dr. Day is a professor of Spanish with an active research agenda. He has authored and edited several books and anthologies on Mexican theater and performance and serves as Managing Editor of the Latin American Theatre Review. His doctoral students across the U.S. and Latin America reflect his lasting commitment to higher education and scholarly excellence.
A native of Santa Fe, New Mexico, Dr. Day earned a B.S. in Spanish and Bilingual Education from Northern Arizona University, an M.A. in Hispanic Literature from the University of Arizona, and a Ph.D. in Latin American Literature from Cornell University.
