The Board of Trustees for the Imperial Community College District invites nominations, inquiries, and applications for the position of Superintendent/President at Imperial Valley College (IVC). Founded in 1962, IVC is the only community college with a physical campus in Imperial County, California, a binational region on the U.S.–Mexico border with deep agricultural roots and a fast-emerging clean-energy economy. From its 160-acre campus in Imperial, IVC is the primary pathway to higher education for residents of El Centro, Calexico, Brawley, Holtville, and the surrounding communities, offering associate degrees, Associate Degrees for Transfer, certificates, noncredit programs, and apprenticeships across more than 60 fields of study. Reporting directly to the elected Board of Trustees, the successful candidate is expected to assume office in early Spring 2027. The salary range for this position is $280,000 to $330,000.

IVC’s results have earned national attention. The college was a co-recipient of the 2023 Aspen Prize for Community College Excellence and was named a 2025 Carnegie Opportunity College and University. Enrollment has grown for multiple consecutive terms, reaching 13,231 students in 2024–25, and the college conferred more than 3,100 degrees and certificates that year. A Hispanic-Serving Institution, IVC reflects the binational community it serves, with more than 85 percent of students identifying as Hispanic. The college is preparing to launch its first bachelor’s degree, in Industrial Automation, and programs such as LIFT the Valley (Lithium Industry Force Training) are preparing students for careers in lithium extraction, geothermal and solar energy, and advanced technical industries.

The next Superintendent/President will lead a college with strong community roots and significant momentum. The President will guide planned and sustainable growth, secure the college’s financial future, unite instruction and student services around student success, champion academic quality and clear pathways, and position IVC as an anchor of workforce and economic development in the Imperial Valley and the broader binational region that includes Mexicali. The successful candidate will be a transparent, collaborative, and visible leader who builds a productive relationship with the Board of Trustees, works constructively with labor partners, respects participatory governance, appreciates the region’s bilingual and binational community, and is committed to the long-term success of IVC and the community it serves.
