Loyola University Chicago invites applications and nominations for its next Vice President for University Marketing and Communication (VPUMC). This is a significant leadership opportunity at one of the nation’s largest and most respected private Jesuit, Catholic universities.
Loyola University Chicago seeks a highly effective, mission-driven, and action-oriented VPUMC to elevate the University’s visibility, reputation, and institutional storytelling. Reporting to Father Thomas Neitzke, S.J., EdD, Senior Vice President and Special Assistant to the President and Interim Vice President for University Marketing and Communications, the VPUMC is a member of the President’s University Council. The VPUMC oversees department staff that includes areas of brand strategy and identity management; creative expression and production; marketing and paid advertising; social media; public and media relations; internal and executive communications; reputation management and crisis communications; content development and storytelling; and web and digital presence.
The ideal candidate will move quickly from idea to execution, from meeting to message, and from institutional priority to public-facing campaign. This role requires strategic judgment, but its emphasis is performance: producing excellent work, aligning teams, making decisions, meeting deadlines, responding quickly, and telling Loyola’s story clearly, consistently, and compellingly.
Loyola’s distinctive character is rooted in its founding mission and set in one of the world’s great cities. Its main residential campus, Lake Shore Campus sits directly on Lake Michigan in the Rogers Park and Edgewater neighborhoods of Chicago’s North Side, roughly seven miles from downtown, with more than 40 buildings across a lakefront setting widely regarded as one of the most picturesque campuses in the Midwest.
