Notre Dame de Namur University invites applications and nominations for the pivotal role of Chief Financial Officer (CFO), a key leadership position that will help guide the University through a period of transformation, strategic growth, and long-term sustainability. The CFO serves as the University’s senior financial executive and is responsible for the oversight and management of all financial and fiscal operations in support of the University’s mission and strategic priorities. Reporting to the President, the CFO is a member of the senior administrative team and serves as a trusted advisor and strategic partner to institutional leadership and the Board of Trustees.

The CFO provides leadership in financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and policy development, ensuring the consistent application of sound fiscal practices across the institution. The role is especially critical as the University continues to evolve its academic offerings, operational structure, and physical footprint to align with its mission and ensure long-term financial sustainability. The CFO brings a clear and data informed financial perspective to institutional decision making, helping leadership evaluate tradeoffs, anticipate future challenges, and allocate resources in ways that best support the University’s goals and community.

Founded in 1851 by the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur, the University is a private Catholic institution located in Belmont, California, situated between San Francisco and Silicon Valley. As the third oldest college in California and the first in the state to grant baccalaureate degrees to women, the University has a longstanding commitment to values centered education grounded in integrity, justice, service, and care for the whole person. Today, the University serves a diverse population of primarily graduate and adult learners through flexible and career aligned academic programs designed to meet the evolving needs of the region and beyond.

In recent years, the University has strengthened its financial position and clarified its strategic direction, with a focus on graduate education, credential programs, and adult degree completion. Following the sale of its historic Belmont campus and the implementation of a leaseback arrangement, the institution is thoughtfully aligning its facilities, scale, and operations with its academic mission. This work positions the University to pursue a sustainable future while continuing to serve its community with intention and impact. The CFO will play a central role in guiding this transition and helping to build a resilient and future oriented financial model.
