East Stroudsburg University (ESU) invites nominations and applications for the position of Dean of the College of Health Sciences. Located in East Stroudsburg, PA in the Pocono region, ESU offers 58 undergraduate programs, 21 master’s programs, and two doctoral programs, and the university is recognized as the region’s leader in preparing health professionals across clinical, sport, and education-related fields. The College of Health Sciences offers fully accredited undergraduate and graduate programs, meeting the standards of seven accrediting bodies to ensure students are ready for professional certification and licensure. The College of Health Sciences is home to a faculty culture defined by a deep commitment to students, a collaborative spirit, and a shared belief in the university’s mission.
The Dean of the College of Health Sciences, maximizing student-centeredness, collaboration, vision, and communication, provides leadership for six academic departments (athletic training, exercise science, health studies, nursing, physical education teacher education, and communication sciences and disorders). The Dean will lead the college in developing inter-organizational collaboration to harness the knowledge and skills of the area’s health services professionals and education systems to create opportunities for student learning and job preparation, partnerships for faculty research, and improvements to the quality of life in the Poconos region. The incoming Dean must arrive as a committed partner to the college’s department chairs, faculty, and students and must be a bridge builder and someone who honors the strong culture already in place while bringing fresh ideas and perspectives from their own experience. An earned doctorate degree in the health sciences or a related field and record of teaching, scholarship, and service appropriate for the rank of professor in a health sciences field are required.
