California State University, East Bay (Cal State East Bay) invites applications and nominations for an exciting leadership opportunity for the Dean for the College of Business and Economics (CBE). Reporting to the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, the Dean will lead a vibrant college of outstanding faculty and staff in one of the most dynamic business/industry environments in the world. This is an exciting opportunity to lead with talented colleagues and to help form the Academic Affairs leadership team.
The Dean of the CBE serves as the academic and administrative leader of the College, working closely with the Associate Dean, department chairs, faculty, and faculty governance, providing strategic direction while fostering a culture of academic excellence, collaboration, and innovation. The Dean provides leadership for all personnel appointed in the College, with special attention towards those in Unit 03 positions (such as, but not limited to, tenure and tenure-track faculty), all personnel overseeing centers, institutes, programs, or other units housed in the College, including those offered through special sessions, continuing education, University Extension, or any other university auxiliary.
The beautiful main campus is located in the Hayward Hills with panoramic views of the San Francisco Bay shoreline. Situated above the city of Hayward, the University offers an ideal setting for teaching and learning with easy access to the many cities in the Bay Area. With a student population of nearly 15,000, the institution has a satellite campus in Concord, a conference center in San Ramon Valley, and a significant presence online. The University’s students arrive predominantly from Alameda and Contra Costa Counties, and more than 60% are first-generation college students. The university employs over 1,300 faculty and staff and has an operating budget of $213 million.
