Muskingum University, located in the Village of New Concord in Southeastern Ohio, is launching the search for its 22nd president. Serving traditional and adult undergraduates as well as graduate students, Muskingum is poised for a dynamic future. The next president will have the opportunity to lead a university with strong foundations, bold aspirations, and a distinctive spirit of community. The Board of Trustees seeks an innovative, collaborative, and decisive leader to guide Muskingum into its next era of academic excellence and achievement.
Muskingum is proactively meeting the challenges facing private universities with strong enrollment and a financial model that prioritizes affordability and access. Guided by its strategic framework, THRIVE, the University is advancing learning and innovation, fostering transformative growth, enhancing visibility and distinction, and shaping a vibrant future. These efforts have already resulted in new academic programs, upgraded facilities, enhanced student services, expanded community partnerships, and secured resources to support continued progress. The next president will inherit this momentum and have the opportunity to build on Muskingum’s record of resilience and success.
The Board of Trustees seeks a president who will:
- Champion Muskingum’s tradition of academic excellence while driving program innovation that aligns with workforce needs and sustains the enduring value of the liberal arts.
- Accelerate enrollment growth across undergraduate, graduate, and adult programs, balancing mission-driven access with increased net tuition revenue.
- Unite the Board, faculty, staff, and students around a compelling vision and shared direction, building on the momentum of THRIVE.
- Steward the University’s resources with wisdom and integrity while expanding them through bold fundraising and strategic partnerships.
- Strengthen community and relationships on campus, in New Concord and Southeastern Ohio, and elevate Muskingum’s visibility and influence across the state.
- Deepen Muskingum’s commitment to inclusive excellence, ensuring access to a high-quality education for students of all socio-economic, cultural, and learning backgrounds, with impact in the region.
