The Kirkhof College of Nursing is located on the Health Campus of Grand Valley State University in the heart of the medical mile in beautiful downtown Grand Rapids, Michigan where students use cutting-edge technology for teaching and learning from exceptional faculty invested in student success. KCON offers three undergraduate nursing programs (RN to BSN, bachelor’s degree, and bachelor’s for second degree students); a master’s degree program; and a doctor of nursing practice program. Certificate programs and badge programs are also offered. KCON programs are accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education. Exceptional facilities, including the state-of-the-art University Interprofessional Simulation Center which provides clinical learning in a virtual setting, are shared with the College of Health Professions. The Health Campus facilities serve Grand Rapids and surrounding communities with dynamic virtual and real experiences, as well as change initiatives to improve outcomes for those who give and receive care.
The Kirkhof College of Nursing Dean reports to the Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs. Among many qualities sought, GVSU seeks a Dean who will:
- Provide significant intellectual, financial, administrative, and managerial leadership.
- Possess the vision and the communication, management, and leadership skills to continue KCON’s history of excellence in education, scholarship, service, and practice.
- Serve as an effective advocate for the nursing profession, both within the university and externally, to ensure that the program remains at the forefront of education, scholarship, and practice.
- Bring prominence to KCON by actively contributing to local, regional, state, and national health care and academic organization initiatives.
- Seek and pursue opportunities to increase philanthropic support that will provide scholarship and support research.
- Be dedicated to fostering a diverse and inclusive environment that reflects the broader healthcare landscape and promotes cultural competence in nursing education.
